Greetings:
I have lived in the Brooklyn neighborhood in
which Brooklyn Prep was located since 1969. One of my interests is researching
the history of my neighborhood and of Brooklyn and New York City on the whole.
I thought that the attached link might be of interest to you and to your fellow alumni.
It contains a picture of the former Kings County Penitentiary which stood on the same grounds as Brooklyn Prep from
1848 to 1905, or so. I once spoke with a Brooklyn Prep alumnus who told
me that it was always rumored that a prison had preceded Brooklyn Prep on the
Brooklyn Prep grounds, but apparently it was regarded as just a rumor. Well, for
anyone who is interested, here is some proof.

Re: Joseph Madeo BP mid '30s
(possibly 1935)
My great uncle, Joseph Madeo, probably graduated around 1935 from Brooklyn
Prep. He passed away in 1943 in Italy. I'm looking for any
information
you may have on him including when he actually graduated, or possibly
anyone who may remember him. His nickname was "Chub." I
realize he and his classmates would be 86 today, but I thought it was worth asking.
Thank you,
David Madeo

Dear BPAA,
I would be interested in a list/locating members of the Class of 1960 who had
attended Blessed Sacrament School, Jackson Heights.
You have a great web site. Having passed the entrance test at your school
before my relocation, I, too, am a (small) part of your history.
Gratefully,

Class of 1966 >who had attended St. Catherine of Genoa or St. Vincent Ferrer's.
Thanks,
